Seminars

Depression, anxiety, suicide, indoctrination, social media, sexuality – our kids are facing a lot. How do we help today’s kids navigate and survive this crazy world and all of the secularization thrown their way? By giving them a firm foundation built on the Word. This seminar will help you understand what kids are facing and how to lead your ministry to give them a strong foundation – from the lessons you teach to how you resource and everything in between.

When you think of family discipleship, is your plan just to resource parents? Resourcing parents is part of a family discipleship approach (family ministry), but that’s not all the church should be doing to equip mom and dad to lead. Take your ministry beyond just resourcing parents. This breakout will help you build a doable and practical approach to family discipleship so that faith transformation thrives in the home.

How do boys and girls develop a deep and vibrant faith? If we want to see discipleship happen for boys and girls, there are some non-negotiables we have to be following. From our view of the Bible and how we teach it, from doctrine and apologetics to a biblical worldview and the narrative we show – how we disciple boys and girls matters. Discover what non-negotiables you need to be teaching in each and every lesson.

What if that one hour at your church was the only time a child heard about Jesus? Did each and every moment and activity point to Jesus? This breakout will challenge you to evaluate whether you are using your moments well. Is everything from preservice downtime to facial expressions on leaders to game time being done with intentionality? We don’t have time to just entertain kids at church.

Leaders must become intentional about teaching so that more children can engage with and retain God’s truths. This breakout will help you learn how to use learning styles and teaching aids, no matter what curriculum you use, to maximize lesson engagement in your ministry.

Children, even preschool-aged children, are capable of understanding complex theological concepts, such as atonement, propitiation, justification, and more. This breakout will give you practical tools to deepen children’s understanding of theology by creatively and engagingly teaching it.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one incredible story, but children don’t always understand how those stories connect. In this breakout, discover practical ways to teach the narrative of Scripture, helping kids connect the dots, understand the Bible as one big story, and deepen their faith foundation to create resilient disciples.

Many parents want to disciple their children but feel overwhelmed, unprepared, or too busy. In this breakout, we’ll explore the most common barriers families face when trying to grow spiritually at home—and how churches can help remove those obstacles. Discover practical ways to encourage, equip, and empower parents to fill their role as disciple-makers.

God calls parents and grandparents to intentionally pass on their faith to the next generation. In this breakout, we’ll explore what the Bible says about this calling and discuss practical ways to disciple children and grandchildren in everyday life—helping them build a faith that is deeply rooted in God’s Word.

Valerie Bell, CEO Emeritus, Awana

When we first met, Josh was the Pastor to Families and Children at a megachurch in Minnesota. I wondered if he would be someone who was chasing all the latest church fads or if he was serious about the biblical worldview development of the children and parents in his care. I soon discovered that he was not only serious about it, but had put programming in place to make it a reality, and he practices biblical worldview development in the lives of his five children every day.
